South Asian Cochrane Network Sites
The SACNC coordinating centre's activities are enhanced and supported by a devolved network of sites across countries from the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) and are located mainly at academic health-sciences institutions in each country. Each site has one or two representatives who coordinate the activities of the site and provide regional support for the vision and mission of the SACN.
At present, the SACNC comprises six sites in India, two in Pakistan, one in Bangladesh and one in Sri Lanka. We hope to commence activities in Afghanistan, Bhutan, Nepal and the Maldives once we identify suitable partners and institutions in these countries.
Network Site activities include:
- Promoting local awareness and understanding of the Cochrane Collaboration, its activities and its products
- Supporting and mentoring local Cochrane review authors and others who wish to be involved with the Cochrane Collaboration
- Coordinating and providing training workshops for authors and users of The Cochrane Library
- Disseminating evidence from Cochrane Systematic Reviews to clinicians and others interested in Evidence-Informed Health Care
- Providing a specific focus to the activities of the SACNC that draws on local expertise such as with child health, cancer therapy, etc.
