Vellore is situated conveniently nearly halfway between Chennai (140 Km) and Bangalore (220 Km). The nearest international and national airports are at Chennai and Bangalore. Bus service between these cities is frequent and convenient. Convenient trains also run between Chennai and Katpadi (the railway station that serves Vellore town) and between Bangalore and Katpadi (check http://www.indianrail.gov.in/for details on trains to and from Katpadi). Taxi services are also available between these cities and Vellore. The venue for the symposium (Scudder Auditorium) is situated at the Christian Medical College at Bagayam, approximately 7 km from Vellore town and about 11 km from Katpadi railway station. The venue can be easily reached by bus (no. 1 or 2) or by auto rickshaw (Rs 40-50 from Vellore town and Rs.80-Rs.100 from Katpadi railway station). The weather in April is likely to be warm with temperatures between 33 and 40 degrees Celsius. Light showers are not unusual in April. Warm tropical clothing is recommended. Please bring insect repellent creams or sprays to protect your selves against mosquitoes.
